Peter Kuo: #myGOPstory

Hello! I'm Peter Kuo and I'm here today in Campbell, Santa Clara County where I'm excited to announce my candidacy for Vice Chair of the CA Republican Party.

In 1982 my mother, father and I immigrated to San Jose with nothing but the clothes on our back, a few dollars, this violin and the knowledge that if we worked hard, we too could achieve the American Dream. After 24 years, in 2005, here at the Campbell Community Center, I officially became a United States Citizen. It was a long journey, but we made it.

I'm a small business owner, a husband and father of three beautiful children, I'm an immigrant from Taiwan, I AM an American and I AM a PROUD California Republican. I believe in strong conservative principles and I'm also a team player. I recognize that now is a pivotal moment. We must unite behind the principles that make our party strong. This is what will draw people to join us.

Our party needs to grow, it needs to expand, we need to have a party whose brand, image and pride is so strong that Californians are naturally ATTRACTED to our party.

I love my friends in the GOP but we are a broken party, we need to unite now before it is too late. It's time to get mobilized, it's time to get excited and remember why we are Republicans, what brought us here in the first place, what kept us here and why we know we can be the party of California once again.

With that, I ask that you endorse my campaign but even if you do not please join me in sharing your story, why you are a Republican?

Simply go to Facebook and record a Facebook live video, ideally no longer than 60 seconds. Record a video at your home, your business or a place that is important to you. Tell everybody why you are a #proudRepublican, tag my FB page "Peter Kuo for Vice Chair" and hashtag #myGOPstory with a simple sign with the hashtag.

If we all remember what it is about this party we love so much, perhaps we can truly come together and rise above our divisions.

#myGOPplan

Let’s rebuild the energy in our party one delegate, one activist, and one Republican voter at a time.

1. We need to attract, not just recruit, new Republicans. Our party needs to build a strong brand that entices freedom and opportunity loving Californians. As an immigrant in the 80s, the Republican Party was home to me. We need to once again be the party of those that look to the United States of America as the land of opportunity.

2. We need to unite the party once again. It’s going to take every Republican actively working to end the oppression of the Democratic supermajority in Sacramento. People are leaving California in droves because of harmful policies pushed by our state legislature. We cannot continue on this track. We need all hands on deck to take California back. While we may disagree on some issues, we have to remember that the Democratic Party agrees with us on almost nothing. Let’s come to the table, share our ideas, share our positions and move forward together. We must unite to ensure California has an effective counterbalance to Sacramento Liberals.

3. We are not the national party. We are the 5th largest economy in the world, by far the most populous state in the country, the most diverse in the country and the most beautiful. We need to remember our nation was founded on the principles of Federalism, the concept that every state is different. Our party needs to recognize this as well. We are in a unique situation in California, now an "Ultra Minority" in the legislature. We have to recognize that the dynamics of our state are not the same as others and then focus on the issues that will help us grow our party and win elections again.

4. We need to be smarter and work harder. There is no disputing that we are playing in a rigged game. While Democrats have written the rules, they are not a mystery. Ballot harvesting is nothing new and we knew same-day registration was coming. We need to stop complaining and start finding real solutions to winning elections. The roadmap is not elusive, we must make the commitment to put in the hard work to start winning elections again.
